Specifying commercial versus residential trim

Commercial washroom fixtures are built around serviceability and vandal resistance. T&S and ZURN trim uses replaceable cartridges and eterna-style stems so a faucet is repaired rather than replaced, and metering or sensor faucets control water use in high-traffic washrooms. Residential trim from Belanger and PfISTER prioritises finish and style, with cartridges still available as service parts.

When replacing a faucet, the two measurements that matter are the hole spacing on the deck — 4" centreset, 8" widespread, or single-hole — and the maximum deck thickness the shank will clear. For showers, confirm whether the valve body is being replaced or only the trim, because trim kits are specific to the valve family behind the wall.

Toilets, urinals and rough-in

Toilet rough-in is measured from the finished wall to the centre of the closet flange; 12" is standard but 10" and 14" exist in older housing stock. Urinals are selected by flush volume and carrier type. All stocked at our Richmond Hill counter with GTA delivery.
