Cartridges and service parts

A cartridge is the difference between a fifteen-minute repair and a fixture replacement. Cartridges are specific to the valve family, not to the finish or the handle — the Moen 1225 is the same part behind dozens of trim styles. If you are not certain what is in the wall, bring the old cartridge in and we will match it.

Soldering and solvent welding

Use lead-free solder and a flux rated for potable water. Clean the tube and the fitting socket to bright metal, apply flux to both, and heat the fitting rather than the solder. For plastic, primer softens the surface so the cement can fuse the joint — match the cement to the material, and give it the full set time before you test.

Shower pan liner and waterproofing

Pan liner must run up the walls above the curb height and be properly clamped at the drain. Most shower leaks are liner installation failures, not membrane failures.
