Press tools and jaws

Press tools have changed the economics of copper and stainless installation by removing the flame and the fire watch. When buying, the tool is only half the decision — jaws and rings are specific to both the tool and the fitting system, and jaw sets are where the ongoing cost sits. Confirm compatibility with the fittings you actually install before committing to a platform.

Cutting and drilling

Blade selection does more for cutting speed than tool power. Match tooth pitch to material thickness — too coarse and the blade strips on thin wall, too fine and it loads up in thick material. Bi-metal and carbide-tipped hole saws pay for themselves quickly on cast iron and stainless.
