The Liberty Pumps SumpJet® SJ10 is a water-powered backup sump pump designed to protect basements from flooding during electrical power outages. Unlike battery backup systems, the SJ10 operates entirely from municipal water pressure and requires no electricity or batteries. Its high-efficiency venturi design removes approximately two gallons of sump water for every gallon of municipal water consumed, providing dependable emergency pumping when the primary sump pump cannot operate. Constructed from corrosion-resistant engineered polymers, stainless steel, and brass components, the SJ10 arrives fully assembled and is ideal for residential sump pits served by a continuous municipal water supply.

Usage

The Liberty Pumps SJ10 is installed as a secondary backup pump alongside a primary electric sump pump. During a power outage or primary pump failure, the rising water level activates the SJ10 float mechanism, allowing municipal water pressure to power the venturi pump and remove water from the sump pit. The system requires a continuous municipal water supply between 20 and 100 PSI and a 3/4-inch water connection. It is intended for homes connected to city water and is not suitable for properties using private well systems because the well pump will not operate during a power outage. An approved RPZ (Reduced Pressure Zone) backflow preventer is required by plumbing code to protect the potable water supply.
