Product Description

The Zurn ZX400-8Y 8-Inch Square Heavy-Duty Cast Iron Adjustable Strainer is a commercial-grade floor drain top assembly designed for demanding drainage applications where durability, load resistance, and adjustable installation height are essential. Manufactured from heavy-duty Dura-Coated cast iron, this square floor drain strainer provides a rugged drainage surface for mechanical rooms, warehouses, parking structures, industrial facilities, service areas, commercial kitchens, and other high-traffic environments.

The adjustable 4-inch NPSM threaded shank allows the strainer elevation to be raised or lowered to align accurately with the finished floor surface. This adjustment is valuable during new construction, concrete pours, flooring replacement, renovations, and drain repair work where the final floor height may differ from the original rough-in elevation. The large 8" x 8" square grate offers approximately 26 square inches of open drainage area, allowing water to enter the drainage system while helping block larger debris.

The Zurn ZX400-8Y is a strainer and threaded top assembly only. It must be installed with a compatible Zurn floor drain body and should not be advertised as a complete drain. Its cast-iron construction makes it particularly suitable for installations where a decorative nickel-bronze finish is unnecessary and strength is the priority. For commercial plumbers, mechanical contractors, property-maintenance teams, and institutional facilities, the ZX400-8Y provides a durable replacement or specification-grade floor drain top for compatible Zurn drainage systems.

Usage: The ZX400-8Y threads into the receiving collar of a compatible Zurn floor drain body. During installation, the contractor rotates the threaded shank until the square strainer sits level with the finished concrete, tile, epoxy, or other floor surface. It is used to collect surface water while providing access to the drain body beneath. Thread size, drain-body compatibility, load requirements, and finished-floor elevation must be confirmed before ordering.
