The Zoeller Water Ridd’r® WM49 is a compact 1/4 HP automatic submersible sump pump engineered for dependable groundwater removal in residential basement sump systems. Its oil-filled permanent split capacitor motor and cast iron motor housing provide efficient heat dissipation and long service life, while the non-clogging engineered-plastic vortex impeller passes spherical solids up to 3/8 inch. A wide-angle tethered mechanical float switch provides automatic start-and-stop operation as basin levels change. With a 1-1/2-inch NPT discharge, maximum flow of 32 GPM, 18-foot shut-off head, and 20-foot grounded cord, the WM49 is ideal for smaller sump pits and foundation drainage applications.

Usage

The Zoeller WM49 is installed in a residential sump basin to remove groundwater collected from foundation drains, basement drainage systems, and other approved clear-water sources. As water rises, the tethered mechanical float lifts and automatically energizes the pump. The vortex impeller moves the collected water through the 1-1/2-inch discharge piping until the water level reaches the switch’s shut-off point. The pump should be placed on a hard, level surface with sufficient clearance for unrestricted float movement. A check valve is normally installed in the discharge line to prevent backflow and reduce repeated pump cycling.
