The Watts 100XL Series Temperature & Pressure Relief Valve is a self-closing bronze safety valve designed to provide automatic temperature and pressure protection for residential and commercial water heaters and hot water storage tanks. Featuring a 3/4 in male NPT inlet and female NPT outlet, the valve automatically opens if water temperature or pressure exceeds safe operating limits, helping prevent tank damage and hazardous overpressure conditions. It incorporates an accurate thermostat with a thermo-bonded coating, a corrosion-resistant bronze body, a stainless steel spring, and a manual test lever for routine inspection and maintenance. It is ASME rated and CSA listed for water heater safety applications.

Usage

This valve is installed directly into the temperature and pressure relief opening on residential or commercial water heaters and hot water storage tanks. During normal operation it remains closed, but automatically discharges water whenever the tank reaches the preset pressure or temperature limit, protecting the water heater and plumbing system from dangerous operating conditions. The manual test lever allows periodic testing to verify proper valve operation.
