The Watts LF1170 Thermostatic Mixing Valve – Sweat × Threaded is a lead-free master thermostatic mixing valve designed to blend hot and cold water to provide a safe, consistent tempered water supply for residential and commercial domestic hot water systems. Featuring sweat (solder) connections on the hot and cold water inlets with a female NPT threaded mixed water outlet, the valve combines the reliability of soldered copper connections with the convenience of a threaded outlet. A solid wax hydraulic thermostat and double-throttling mechanism continuously compensate for changes in inlet temperature and pressure to maintain a stable outlet temperature. Integral check valves and filter washers help prevent crossflow and protect the valve from debris while automatically restricting mixed water flow in the event of a cold-water supply failure.

Usage

This thermostatic mixing valve is installed at the water heater or central hot water distribution system to blend hot and cold water before supplying tempered water throughout the building. The sweat connections are soldered directly to copper tubing, while the female NPT threaded mixed outlet simplifies connection to threaded piping or transition fittings. The valve allows higher water heater storage temperatures for increased hot water capacity and Legionella protection while delivering safe water temperatures to plumbing fixtures in residential, commercial, institutional, and healthcare applications.
