CALEFFI - DISCAL® Air Separator NPT

The Caleffi DISCAL® Air Separator NPT is a high-efficiency microbubble air separator designed to continuously remove entrained and dissolved air from closed-loop hydronic heating and cooling systems. Its large internal chamber and engineered coalescing element efficiently separate microbubbles while producing very low pressure drop. Constructed from forged brass with a stainless steel float guide and reinforced nylon internal element, the DISCAL® improves heat transfer, reduces corrosion, eliminates air-related noise, and protects pumps, boilers, and system components. It is available with female NPT threaded connections in 1 in and 1-1/4 in sizes.

Usage

The DISCAL® Air Separator is installed in the supply piping of closed-loop hydronic heating or cooling systems, typically immediately downstream of the boiler where water temperature is highest and dissolved air is most easily released. As system water passes through the large separation chamber, the internal coalescing element collects microbubbles and directs them upward to the automatic air vent for continuous removal. This process minimizes air pockets, improves circulation, reduces pump cavitation and corrosion, and increases overall system efficiency with virtually no maintenance required.
