Product Description

The Calefactio Calbalance 2-Zone Hydraulic Separator is a compact primary-secondary hydronic component designed to connect two heating zones directly while hydraulically isolating the boiler circuit from the distribution circuits. Its low-velocity painted steel chamber prevents circulator interaction and stabilizes system flow and temperature under changing zone demands. The assembly includes a Calvent automatic air vent, bottom drain valve, thermometer port, plug, and wall-mounting bracket for a streamlined mechanical-room installation. Available with 1-inch or 1-1/4-inch FNPT primary connections and dedicated 1-inch zone outlets, it is ideal for boilers, radiant floor heating, snow-melting systems, and multi-temperature hydronic applications.

Usage

The Calefactio Calbalance 2-Zone separator is installed vertically between the primary boiler loop and two secondary hydronic heating zones. The boiler circulator connects to the primary ports, while the four dedicated 1-inch secondary outlets serve the supply and return piping for Zone 1 and Zone 2. This arrangement permits the boiler and zone circulators to operate at independent flow rates without interfering with one another. The automatic air vent removes collected system air, the bottom drain valve supports purging and sediment removal, and the 1/2-inch thermometer port allows system-temperature monitoring. Separator size must be selected according to the highest flow entering from either the primary or secondary circuits.
